I have been working with Poway's budget for the last seven years — the last four on City Council, and the three before that on the Budget Review Committee (BRC). I know the challenges and choices the City of Poway faces in keeping to its core mission of Public Safety, Funded Infrastructure, and Community Investments — and I will continue my proven track record of ensuring we meet these needs through smart choices and fiscal discipline.
We've had year-on-year balanced budgets without cuts to essential services, as we've all watched other cities, big and small, struggle as past choices finally catch up to present realities. The largest water infrastructure project in Poway's history is coming in on time and slightly under budget, and we've all seen or experienced the significant upgrades to our parks. These are the core missions of local government, and what I believe it's supposed to be about.
