Why Re-elect me?
We chose Poway for its safe neighborhoods, open hillsides, and a rare thing these days — neighbors who still know each other's names. That's why we stayed. And that's what I've spent my time on Council fighting to protect.
I bring a scientist's approach to City Hall: look at the data, ask the hard questions, decide on the facts. Sometimes that's popular. Sometimes it's a tough call. It's always fiscally responsible — and it's the approach that gets results.
I helped lead the acquisition of over 300 acres of open space to protect our hillsides and ridgelines. I initiated the Hillside Dark Sky Ordinance to safeguard our night skies and the Pickleball Noise Ordinance to give residents real relief from a problem that had gone unaddressed too long. And year after year, we've balanced the budget without cutting the services you rely on.
Poway continues to be the safest city in San Diego County, and I've earned the endorsement of both the Poway Firefighters Association and the Deputy Sheriffs' Association — because protecting that record starts with backing the people who make it possible.
It's a record of real results, not fuzzy promises.
Looking ahead: meeting our state housing mandates at the lowest responsible density. Protecting our streets and infrastructure for the long haul. Making sure "The City in the Country" still means something for the next generation.

My background
I moved to Poway more than 17 years ago for the same reason as many people: Poway is a safe family city with great schools, open spaces, and plenty of local amenities — and I intend to keep it that way.
As the elected District 3 Poway City Councilman, I have kept that promise with a Focus on the Fundamentals: Delivering a Balanced Budget that Prioritizes Public Safety, Funds our Infrastructure, and Enhances Community Services.
Most of my professional time is spent as a Scientist at UC San Diego where I supervise molecular biology labs with focuses on biomarker discovery for the early detection of human pregnancy disorders to complex respiratory viral disease testing.
Service
As a City Councilmember, I serve on two regional boards: The Wastewater Joint Powers Authority ( WW JPA) and the Regional Solid Waste Association. (RSWA)
RSWA controls our garbage rates and we have both a strong voice and one of the lowest, if not the lowest rates anywhere in the region. I serve as Vice-Chair of this Board.
The WW JPA controls our sewer rates, which are, for the first time ever, being held flat with no increases for three years. All without cutting maintenance or operations. The WW JPA is also an oversight board for the Pure Water Program of San Diego, a multi-billion dollar clean water resiliency project that helps to secure our access to water far into the future. I serve as Vice-Chair of this Board.
Prior to being elected to the City Council, I had served for three years on the Poway Budget Review Committee (BRC) as the Vice-Chair. Outside of the City Council, this is the primary financial oversight committee for the City's budget. There are five appointed positions, one from each member of the City Council.

What I like to do
I like to hike, bike, camp, and build things around the house. I have an interest astronomy and dark skies, and helped to get the City of Poway to adopt the International Dark Sky Association (IDA) guidelines for nighttime lighting.
This interest is one of the reasons I initiated the Hillside Dark Sky Ordinance to protect Poway's Hillsides from over development and to reduce the impacts already there.
