Your private property rights are of paramount importance to your freedom and prosperity. I will do everything in my power to ensure that there are no takings of private property by the City.
Development is split into larger scale projects encompassing publicly owned land and mostly mid to smaller scale projects on private land. Beyond what is currently ongoing in the Poway Road Specific Plan area, I do not think Poway needs any additional higher density housing development. I believe in the vision of Poway housing as traditional single family market rate residences and that our General Plan should be followed.
City control of this nature is justly limited to public lands, in zoning as laid out in the General plan, and most strongly influenced here in Poway by Prop FF.
Private Property Development is one of the most complex and nuanced tasks that comes before the City Council, and a proper balance between the needs of the surrounding neighbors and the rights of the landowner to develop their land must be struck. I place a high degree of significance on the impacts of development on the immediately local neighbors. I think their voices should have weight in how such developments occur within the zoning of the property being developed.
