Good local decision-making depends on accurate and complete information. Legacy media often lacks the space to provide it, and social media platforms tend to reward the opposite: the quick, the loud, and the oversimplified. A more accurate understanding of how things work makes your efforts to improve local government more effective.
Since late 2024, I have published an e-newsletter called the Inside Scoop, about once every month or three. It is a long-form counterbalance to the hot takes of social media. Each issue attempts to explain the background and detail behind why some things happen the way they do in Poway's local governance. These topics usually don't make the local news because there isn't room for all the relevant detail. The newsletter is meant to supplement, not supplant, the City's outreach to residents.
